Seebach Weekend Open 2026

16 to 18 October 2026 · Kirchgemeindehaus Höngg, Zurich

Nine rounds of rapid chess in a single weekend, in the middle of Zurich. The tournament runs from 16 to 18 October at Kirchgemeindehaus Höngg. It belongs to SC Zürich Seebach, not to us. We recommend it because it is the right first open.

Why we recommend it

The right first open

Most players hesitate longest before their first open. Here the step is a small one: two rounds on Friday evening, four on Saturday, three on Sunday, and you are home on Sunday afternoon. No week off, no travel, no hotel bill.

25 minutes plus 10 seconds per move leave time to calculate, and nine rated games over three days teach more than half a year of club evenings. The tournament counts for the FIDE rapid rating, which for many players is their first international rating at all.

The prizes do not stop at the top of the table: U18 and under 1700 Elo have their own places. If you are not yet playing for the tournament win, you are still playing for something.
